一、教学目标与要求:

At the end of the class, the students can:

1.Practice Ss’ reading skills and capability.

2.Help Ss to learn some related language knowledge:

in case,climb out,liquid,cupboard,imagine,dangerous,household,item

3 .Make Ss know the main idea of the text Make Your Home a Safer Place!.

二、教学重点、难点:

1. By learning passage, practice Ss’ reading skills and capability, such as skimming, scanning and guessing the meanings of the words from the context.

2. Help Ss to learn and master some related language knowledge.

Master the usage and pronunciation of new words and expressions.

3. Find out the writers advice.

四、教学过程与时间分配:

Step 1. Lead-in and greeting

First get the students to have daily report.

According to the daily report and ask some questions.

Have a dictation.

Step2.Skimming and scanning

1.Ask Ss to look at the picture on P77

and guess the main content of the text.

2Then look through the whole passage to gain the main idea of it and know how to make my home a safter place.

Look through the text quickly and try to master the main idea of the text.

4.Get Ss to read the passage again and circle the dangerous places in Activity 2.

5.Ask some volunteers to give best answers.

6.Lead others to answer it.

7.Ask Ss to read the text carefully this time.

8.Finish exercises in Activity 3 and Activity 4.

They may discuss in pairs or groups.

9.Check their answers.

Ss do the intensive reading and finish the related taskes.

Correct mistakes if they make during their discussion.

10. Explain the words and expression to the students .

Complete the safety notice according to Activity 5. Remember to give as many details as possible.
