一、教学目标与要求: At the end of the class, the students will be able to 1. get to know TV-turnoff week. 2. grasp useful expressions in the passage. 3.get to know the different kinds of hooks. 4.improve their skills of reading. 二、教学重点、难点: 1 grasp useful expressions in the passage. 2.get to know the different kinds of hooks. 三、教学准备:(PPT、教具、图表、习题等) PPT 四、教学过程与时间分配: Step 1. Lead-in and greeting First get the students to have daily report. According to the daily report and ask some questions. Have a dictation. Step2. Reading and Writing First get the students to answer the questions: Do you watch TV a lot? Have you ever through about how to spend your time your TV is turned off? Discuss the question. Then scan the passage to see what people can do in a week without TV. List some important phrases on the screen: cut into 打扰 cut off 切断 cut up 剪碎 cut down砍到 succeed in doing sth.= do sth. Successfully =manage to do sth. 成功做某事 Live a happy life 过一种幸福的生活 Participate in 参与 All walks of life 各种行业、 Year after year 年复一年 It’s clear that clause …显而易见的 Follow-up surveys 后续调查 Promise sb. to do sth. 许诺做某事 Get them to make some sentences. Explain the important phrases and sentences. Activity2: Read the passage again and circle the best answer. Check the answers:①c ②b ③b Activity3: Find out the impact of TV-Turnoff Week in the passage. Underline them and take them down in the blanks below. For examples:What would people do during the TV-Turnoff Week? How many participants have given up watching TV? The answers:① Life can be more meaningful when we do more and watch less. ② What they tell us year after year is that life is more enjoyable without television. ③ 90 percent of the participants changed their TV-viewing, 80 percent watch less TV, including 20 percent who watch no TV. ④ Participants promise to re-engage in real life, and they read, talk, play games, hike, think, or do any number of other activities.
