INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the resource SITTTSL202 Access and interpret product information. This resource describes the importance of being able to access product information on tourism, hospitality or events products to fulfil any sales or operational need. It explains the need for the ability to identify product information and to interpret specific details of the products.
Tourism Personnel selling travel insurance to a retail travel client must meet the requirements of the Financial Services Reform Act (2001). Sales personnel must complete a course delivered by the insurance provider in order to interpret provisions of the insurance policy.

v primary components of the Financial Services Reform Act (2001) including organisational responsibility for supplying product disclosure statements and providing accurate information on the provisions of the insurance policy
· industry terminology and common abbreviations for major product categories
v oral and written use of the 24hour clock.
To prove competency in this unit evidence of the following is essential:
· obtain current, relevant and accurate information on tourism, hospitality or event products by accessing a range of information sources and using different research methods
· interpret information on diverse products to meet different sales, operational and customer needs
· interpret industry terminology and common abbreviations for major product categories
complete activities within commercial time constraints and deadlines determined by the customer or the organisation.
