❖ 欲治其国者,先齐其家;欲齐其家者,先修其身;欲修其身者,先正其心。
To govern his state well, one has to run his family first;
To run his family well, one has to regulate his body first;
To regulate his body well, one has to train his mind first.
❖ 坐如钟,站如松,卧如弓,行如风。
Sitting as a bell, standing as a pine, lying as a bow, and move as wind.
❖ 德靠自修,神靠自养,忧靠自排,怒靠自制。
Self-cultivation banks virtue; self-regulation lifts spirits;
Self-comfort removes worry; self-control relieves anger.
❖ 酸多伤脾,辛多伤肝,咸多伤心,甘多伤肾。
Food too sour may hurt the spleen; Food too spicy may hurt the liver;
Food too salty may hurt the heart; Food too sweet may hurt the kidney.
